Pastor's Page

Hello and I'm so glad you've taken the time to have a browse of our website.  I’m Evan King and have been the pastor at the fellowship since July 2010.

I was born in South Africa and completed my school and university training there before working for a large manufacturing company as a Quality Manager where I was responsible for visiting all company installation sites across Southern and Eastern Africa. I then worked for the chartered accountancy firm, Ernst & Young in their Johannesburg office. In 1998 I was transferred to the London office of Ernst &Young and in 2004 I became the Operations Director of a Performance Management Software and Consultancy company in London, where I remained until I felt the Lord calling me into full time study to serve Him as a pastor.

I’m married to Carolyn and we have 6 children.  I have a wide range of personal interests.

I play golf (badly), enjoy backpacking and hiking, DIY and gardening when time allows.

I’m also a keen follower and supporter of England and South Africa’s cricket and rugby teams and spend most Saturday’s watching all my children play football.

I cannot give an exact time or an exact date when the Lord in His sovereign mercy and grace worked a miracle in my life and saved me. I do however acknowledge that it was all of God’s doing and none of mine. I was blessed to be brought up in a Christian home from a very early age.

My parents were both converted within a week of each other when I was about 3 or 4 years old. Ever since I can remember they faithfully and diligently brought my brothers and me up in “the ways of the Lord”.

Regular family quiet times became the norm in our house and I have never forgotten how we were guided and instructed by them.  Nor can I forget how we were urged to pray and plead with the Lord to reveal himself to us as individuals; we were always reminded that being brought up in a Christian family did not automatically make us Christians.

I made a public profession of faith when I was baptised at the age of 17 but during my early twenties, whilst at university I turned my back on the Lord, however He was faithful and

brought me back to Himself and slowly but surely over a period of about 15 years convinced me that I should serve Him in a full time capacity.

I attended the London Theological Seminary (LTS), www.ltslondon.org where I completed my studies before serving as an Associate Pastor in a Cambridgeshire Baptist Church before taking up the pastorate at West Row.

Our fellowship is made up of people from all walks of life; farmers, hauliers, businessmen and women, nurses, civil servants, teachers, pilots and other USAF personnel amongst others. There are those who go to school as well as those at the other end of the spectrum who are enjoying retirement. However, we all share one thing in common and that is a deep love for the Lord Jesus Christ. It is Him who unites us as a fellowship and we would love to meet you and welcome you into our church. We are just ordinary people, whose lives have been changed by the Lord Jesus.
